Our Volunteers

We would like to continue our tradition of making the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic the premier sporting event in Northwest Ohio and we would like your input! Please help us evaluate the tournament by completing the 2008 Tournament Evaluation Form and returning it to the JFOCC office.

Over 1,200 volunteers that make the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic a success each year. Volunteers register early. They have the opportunity to choose from over 25 committees. Volunteer opportunities range from being on course, in the clubhouse, off-site or volunteering prior to tournament week. Volunteers range in age from 11 years old to over 80! No experience necessary!
 

Below you will find a brief description of the volunteer committees and jobs. Some committees may require a training session prior to the tournament to familiarize volunteers with their duty.

OPERATIONS
Operation committees are responsible for ensuring tournament play proceeds in a timely and professional manner.

SCORING CONTROL: Responsible for relaying and verifying player scores, requests rulings, report interval violations and requests emergency services from First Aid.

SPECTATOR INFORMATION: Displays upcoming players’ scores in relation to par on thru boards on selected holes.

STANDARD BEARERS: Walk with players displaying names and scores in relation to par.

WALKING SCORERS: Walk with the players recording their scores, recording all shots getting to the green and putts.

GREEN REPORTERS: Receives scoring sheet from walking scorer, phones it in to Scoring Control and enters the info on a S.E.T. terminal for use on the electronic scoreboards.

RUNNERS: Pick-up score sheet from walking scorer and take it for copying.

MARSHALS: Enforce crowd control during play, ensuring players safe and easy access from hole to hole and signaling the gallery for quiet as players address the ball.

CADDIES: Coordinates LPGA "caddie shack" and amateur caddies needed during the Pro-am events.

PLAYER SERVICES:
Player Services committees are responsible for ensuring the needs of the LPGA players are met.

LOCKER ROOM: Provides access to lockers and distributes mail and messages to LPGA pros.

FOOD SERVICES: Staff players snack tents on course and supervise players grill and meal count.

TRANSPORTATION: Provides transportation service to and from the course for LPGA players and VIPs.

SPECTATOR SERVICES:
Spectator Services committees are responsible for planning and providing high quality cost effective parking, bussing, security, and first aid services.

VOLUNTEER SECURITY: Provides volunteer security for all locations on course where non-uniformed security is needed.

FIRST AID: Provides basic first aid service for players, volunteers and spectators. Must be certified in first aid.

VALET PARKING: Provides valet parking for Pro-Am participants.

SHUTTLE SERVICE: Provides shuttle service for spectators, directors, chairmen and others from Parking Lot D.

PUBLIC INFORMATION TENT/ PAIRINGS DISTRIBUTION: Provides general player and course information to the spectators and distributes pairing sheets.

GREETERS: Greets spectators at main gate and checks credentials.

GROUNDS:
Grounds committees are responsible for physical changes including construction of temporary on-course structures, placement of informational signs, refuse collection, plus set-up and tear-down of tables/chairs, roping and fencing.

SET-UP/TEAR-DOWN: Roping and staking the course for spectator control and set-up and tear down as needed on and off course.

TABLES/CHAIRS: Responsible for set up and tear down of all tables/chairs needed on site during Tournament week.

VOLUNTEER SERVICES:
Volunteer Services committees are responsible for all areas dealing directly with volunteer needs.

VOLUNTEER TENT: Assists in distribution of Volunteer Tent snacks and information plus gives support to off-course volunteers during Tournament.

EVENTS:
Event committees are responsible for planning and implementing all social events connected with the Tournament, including the Kick-Off event, Pro-Am Draws and Events, Award Parties, and other special events.

RONALD McDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES LPGA TOUR JUNIOR CLINIC: Assist LPGA pros in setting up and conducting a junior’s golf clinic

SPONSOR SERVICES:
Sponsor Services committees are responsible for ensuring that needs of the sponsors and their guests are met during Tournament week.

WILL CALL: A location for players, spectators, and sponsors to pick up and drop off credentials

SKYBOX: Works closely with sponsors in coordinating registration, skybox security and hospitality.

CLUBHOUSE HOSPITALITY: Supervises sponsors and guest registration to Clubhouse Hospitality.
